Faculty Positions in Big Data, Translational Health, Emerging Areas in Engineering and Battelle Chairs

 

Iowa State University has launched the Presidential High Impact Hires Initiative to recruit 29 high-impact targeted faculty in areas of strategic importance.

As part of the initiative, the College of Engineering at Iowa State University (www.engineering.iastate.edu) invites applications for several faculty tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks to begin in Fall 2015. Academic homes will be in the engineering department. Specifically we are seeking application for:

  1. Two faculty positions in experimental and/or computational aspects of Big Data in all engineering disciplines such as data mining; information management; data fusion; data visualization; bio- and materials-informatics; algorithms and analysis, simulation, and design of large-scale complex engineered systems; sensor technologies; agricultural and environmental systems; multi-scale modeling; etc.).
  1. One faculty position in all areas of Translational Health related to engineering, including biomaterials and biomechanics; diagnostic, therapeutic and medical devices/systems; synthetic biology; and biophotonics and bioimaging.
  1. Multiple faculty positions in emerging engineering areas including sustainable and critical infrastructures, information security, precision agriculture, risk and reliability, energy sciences, and digital manufacturing.
  1. Charles Schafer (Battelle) Chair in Engineering in the area of Biorenewables energy science and technologies. Academic home can be any engineering department.
  1. Kirby Gray (Battelle) Chair in Engineering in the area of biosciences, advanced manufacturing or information technology. Academic home will be either in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering.

 

Applicants for the two chaired positions must have a proven track record of bringing their ideas to commercialization, with patents and potential patent disclosures, and shall bring a business or near-term commercialization activity with them to the University.
