Undergraduate Research Opportunities

The Department offers opportunities for undergraduates to become involved in timely and significant materials research problems. Many aspects of the Department’s research activities are open to student participation via special topics courses. If you are interested, contact your advisor or the faculty member with whom you would like to work.

There are a significant number of opportunities for undergraduate students in MSE to secure part-time employment as an undergraduate research assistant. If you wish to be considered for one of these positions, please complete the following form:

Application for MSE Undergraduate Research Assistant Position

This form will provide information to MSE faculty regarding your interest in and qualifications for an undergraduate research assistant position. Submitting this form will forward the information to MSE faculty, who will then respond to you directly if they have an open position and believe that you might be a good fit for their research group.

Please be aware that positions are subject to the availability of funding and/or research project timelines/needs. If you do not receive a response back from any faculty, you may resubmit this form at another time (we recommend waiting at least 2-3 months between submissions).
