Dr. Melissa Ver Meer is the Principal for Enterprise Partnerships in Strategy and Transformation at the U.S. Department of  Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) in Kansas City, Missouri USA.  The DOE’s newest state-of-the art manufacturing facility provides diverse engineering, advanced manufacturing and secure sourcing services for national security.

Dr. Ver Meer previously served as senior technical manager for engineering in Nuclear Weapon Programs and Global Security, focusing in areas of technology and product maturation.  She was also the technical manager for polymer research and development in Materials Engineering at KCNSC.

Dr. Ver Meer has conducted research with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Research Service, DOE’s Ames National Laboratory and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Marshall Space Flight Center where she was a NASA graduate student research fellow. She spent nearly ten years with Schlumberger Technology Corporation in local and global leadership roles in polymer engineering prior to her arrival at KCNSC in 2012. She holds seven patents focused on applications of high temperature materials.

Dr. Ver Meer holds a Master of Science and Doctorate degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Iowa State University of Science and Technology as well as a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
